PIPE DREAM SOUNDSYSTEMS - WHAT IS IT?

PIPE DREAM SOUNDSYSTEMS is a fictional netlabel comprised of 3 characters: Gynx, Morgan (aka Evenghost), and Azineo. In real life, the person behind the music and characters would be me, Rico. The idea of separating genre/mood by character was definitely not an original idea, but I thought it was nifty! I like to do a lot of storytelling with my music, so there is lots to learn about the characters through their music!

THE CHARACTERS

Gynx Taylor (GYNX) has mastered the craft of (speed/break/hard/mash/happy hard/happy speed)core, armed with merely a laptop and a pair of Skullcandy earbuds (The ULTIMATE Speedcore Producer's Tool), GYNX has been my main musical alias since ~2017. Morgan Parse (Evenghost) spills her guts into emotional speedcore, somber breakcore, and haunting ambience. Facing a devastating breakup, a vicious cycle of nightmares, total loss of control, and recently the construction and activation of a potentially deadly machine, Morgan has much to tell you through her music. The earliest GYNX album under the PIPE DREAM label, "MATCHY" is a solid first entry for me. Although it is definitely a release I spent a bit less time on than I do with my more recent albums. It's kind of meh, yawn, average-ish speedcore. My style has only barely started to develop here. The rating would be higher but I really just do not like it as much compared to later entries!

Things are getting a bit more interesting here... I really do love this album. It's fun-sized, sample-packed, carefree happy speedcore fun! I made 3 of the songs on this release with my phone. When I made this album, I was really struggling in high school, and did not have the ability to work on music for a while. And when I was finally able to, I think I churned this out in a couple weeks. It's still a super fun album though, and holds a special place in my heart.
